Exporting Instrument Data
VectorWorks Spotlight instrument data (including accessory, power, and position information) can be exported to an external file. The resulting file can then be opened by a spreadsheet or database program, and is compatible with Lightwright 4.
All instrument and accessory data from the current light plot are exported. Individual instruments cannot be selected for export.
To export instrument data:
1.
Select File > Export > Export Instrument Data.
The Export Instrument Data dialog box opens.

Selects the instrument data to be exported. Double-click (Macintosh) or click (Windows) an item to select it; a plus sign (+) next to the field indicates that it will be exported. To deselect a field, double-click it.
Selects only the instrument data fields supported by Lightwright. All Lightwright-compatible fields will be exported; these fields are displayed with a plus sign. Verify the selections to ensure that these are the fields desired for export.
Retains headers for the field information during export; this option is recommended, as it helps to organize the data in the database or spreadsheet program
Exports all static accessories attached to an instrument as a list separated by a “+” sign, to the Accessories field associated with the instrument
The Unique ID field (UID) is not in the list, but is automatically exported. This field is required to re-import data.
See Importing Lightwright Data into Spotlight for more information on the UID field and Lightwright.
2.
Click Export and enter a file name and export location for the file.
3.
Click Save and the selected instrument data is exported to the file in tab-delimited format. Import the file as tab-delimited into the other program.
